ABOUT THE SHOW

It's a comedy like you've never seen -- a delightfully silly thriller about love, alien abduction, and the spirit of adventure! Accompanied onstage by guitarist Kevin Hume, this holiday season The Pajama Men bring their trademark style of blink-of-an-eye character switches and plot twists to DC.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, The Pajama Men have become stars of the international comedy circuit. They smashed all previous box office records at London’s Soho Theatre in 2010, earned the title “Double Act of the Year” by The London Times, and have produced the highest rated show at the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival.

STANDING ROOM TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR $20! BUY NOW!

Standing Room tickets secure you a place to stand in our house during the performance. We cannot guarantee a physical seat, though you will be offered one by the House Manager should one become available just prior to the start of the performance.

“I am still recovering from my exposure to their antics, which oscillate at something on the order of 1,000 jokes per minute…I was doubled over in a kind of hysterical agony. I felt as if my lungs had migrated into my throat and that my anatomy would soon be inside out.”
– Peter Marks, Washington Post

Run time is 60 minutes with no intermission.

“The completely bonkers fusion of comedy skits, music, and mime is loosely based around an overarching story about space travel, but you don’t need to give it too much attention. The joy instead is in watching Chavez and Allen flit from scene to scene at a breakneck pace, and observing their obvious enjoyment in doing so.”
Washingtonian

“Chaotic in the best way possible, leaving us scarce time to breathe in between the dizzyingly complex improvisation.”

Brightest Young Things

“You'll laugh throughout the beginning, the middle, the end, and even afterward, when you're in your own pajamas and their ludicrousness flashes back to mind.”
The Examiner

“All the time you’re watching them…, trying to catch your breath between genius comic turns, you are also thinking: These guys have the goods to become very big comedy forces on TV and film. And you’ll be someday able to brag that you saw them in this very intimate surrounding.”
Maryland Theatre Guide

“This is a show that had the audience in stitches the whole way through.”
Woman Around Town

ABOUT THE PAJAMA MEN

Mark Chavez and Shenoah Allen, the pajama-wearing comedy duo from Albuquerque, New Mexico, have been making waves in the international comedy circuit for the past several years. Along the way, they’ve attained the Barry Award at the 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Best Newcomer and Best of the Fest at the 2009 Sydney Comedy Festival, and sold out a season at the Sydney Opera House.

The Pajama Men performed their first show in 2000 under the name Sabotage, and began touring Canadian fringe festivals. After appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004 and again in 2005, they renamed themselves The Pajama Men and relocated to Chicago where they were the first and only independent act represented by The Second City. Upon returning to Edinburgh in 2008, they garnered numerous accolades and have played in comedy venues in the United Kingdom and Australia, including London’s Soho Theatre, as well as a sold out season at the Sydney Opera House.

The design and production values of their shows are purposefully simple. In performance, the duo wears only their eponymous button-up pajamas. “We shift between characters and situations very quickly,” Allen and Chavez explain. “We didn’t want to get bogged down with sets and costumes or even much lighting. We keep it simple so we can improvise and change things up. It’s more about what’s taking place inside your head while you’re watching the show and less about what we’re wearing.”
