ABOUT THE FEATURES

 

 

Asha “BOOMCLAK” Santee
Asha “BOOMCLAK” Santee is a percussion kahuna with a propensity for infectious beats and the inevitable body roll. Born on September 3rd, this San Francisco native has been drumming since the tender age of 6, taking after her father who drummed for their local church. In pursuit of a professional basketball career after college, a broken leg injury would put her through two months of bed rest and there, she would find clarity in her gift of music. Asha Santee’s passion for music and art have taken her all over the world as she has been asset to several bands across the DC Metropolitan area such as The Peace & Body Roll Duo BOOMscat, The CooLots, The Huda Asfour Trio, Grammy Nominee Carolyn Malachi, and Grammy Award Winning, Mya. Asha currently has three solo projects on all streaming platforms including her latest release, GINKGO.

 

 

Ashley Lakayla Yates / “Black Assets” 
Ashley Lakayla Yates, also known by the stage name of “Black Assets,” is a dynamic queer vocalist/singer-songwriter from Itta Bena, Mississippi, whose art is committed to reflecting the experience of Black people in the United States. She is the creator of The Living Room Social (TLRS), a platform for musicians and music-lovers in the Maryland area to make and experience music together. For the past 3 years, TLRS has curated over 75 shows boasting loyal audiences of over 200 people per show. A natural leader, Ashley’s music is directly rooted within her community.
