INTRODUCING:

PLAY AT HOME

a brand new collection of plays for

your living (or Zoom) room!

In partnership with Baltimore Center Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, The Public Theater, and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, we have commissioned dozens of short plays to ignite imagination and joy during this time of isolation. All plays are original, (mostly) family-friendly, and ready to be downloaded and enjoyed by YOU.

GO AHEAD, #PLAYATHOME.

Woolly micro-commissions include:

ALESHEA HARRIS

A writer who matches Woolly’s values to the greatest extent – Aleshea is known and beloved for experimenting with form and narratives enveloped in social justice. You will remember Aleshea if you were lucky enough to experience our Fall 2019 tour of her powerful piece, WHAT TO SEND UP WHEN IT GOES DOWN.

MIKE LEW

Fiercely and fearlessly funny, Mike Lew’s unique voice exemplifies the boldness often found on Woolly’s stages. We cannot wait to share his groundbreaking play TEENAGE DICK with Woolly audiences.

DIANA OH

As an actor, singer-songwriter, theatremaker, performance artist, and self-named Punk Goddex, Diana Oh is truly one of a kind. Diana’s radical passion for decolonizing and queering processes makes Woolly a perfect home for her work. We are so happy to share her joyful brilliance with this microcomission and can’t wait to continue to celebrate her (and with her) in the future.

DANE FIGUEROA EDIDI

An incredible light in our local DC community, Dane has broken down barriers as a playwright, actor, and choreographer. Her play FOR BLACK TRANS GIRLS… enjoyed massive success at The Public Theater’s Joe’s Pub in Summer 2019, co-presented by Woolly and none other than Laverne Cox!

MICHAEL R. JACKSON

The man who just made history by winning a Pulitzer! We are grateful to have Michael in our artistic family, and look forward to bringing the Broadway-bound A STRANGE LOOP to Woolly just as soon as we can.

An additional playwright soon TBA!

Our goals are simple…

PAY SOME ARTISTS!

Freelance artists are among the folks hit hardest by COVID-19 closures. We want to support them in doing what they do best – creating! While we would love to be able to include anyone and everyone, right now, we’re just five theaters – we’re actively seeking more partner theaters and individuals to jump in and force-multiply.

INVITE PEOPLE TO GET OFFLINE AND INTO THEIR IMAGINATIONS!

Part of the irreplaceable magic of live theater lives in the unmediated space between artists and the audience’s imagination. We make worlds together! Play At Home is an invitation to unplug the tech, and plug into your creativity. You can binge watch The Office later. You’ve got a brand-new library of short plays at your fingertips!

INSPIRE JOY AND CONNECTION!

Read alone! Read with your friends virtually! Read with your roommates, families, pets, whomever! And, if you want, share what you’re up to by tagging #PlayAtHomePlays.
