    The Underground Railroad Experience Trail & Museum

    At Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park

    You’re never too old for a field trip! Join us for a group tour of The Underground Railroad Experience Trail and Museum at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park. “Conductors” will provide historical context during the two mile hike along the trail, and explain techniques used to elude trackers, find food, and navigate the way north to freedom. Woodlawn Museum, a 19th century stone barn, features interactive exhibits highlighting the Underground Railroad, local free black communities and the Quaker experience in Montgomery County.

    For those attending:

    Please meet in the Woolly Mammoth upper lobby at 11:30am. Transportation will leave Woolly Mammoth (641 D St. NW) at 12pm promptly.

    The tour will last from 1pm – 3:15pm. If you are driving to Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park, please plan to meet the group at the Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park Visitor Center at 1pm. Please note that parking may be limited.

    Transportation will leave Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park at 3:30pm. Participants will arrive back at Woolly Mammoth by 4:30pm.

    Please note:

    Hike will be conducted rain or shine.  Cancellations will only occur for heavy rain, high winds, or poor trail conditions. Registrants will be contacted in advance.

    We recommend wearing comfortable shoes suitable for hiking, weather appropriate clothing, and sunscreen/insect repellant.

    The Underground Railroad Experience trail is not ADA accessible.

    This event is free, however, all non-arrivals will be subject to a $25 absentee fee.
