The evolution of Dr. Renaissance, affectionately known as “Doc” is rooted in both science and the arts. Doc earned his PhD in 2019 in Cancer Biology following a successful career as a Biomedical educator at the secondary and university levels and is currently working in the Biopharmaceutical industry. Doc enjoyed years of gymnastics and Hip-Hop dance at the University of Maryland. He trained extensively under Culture Shock DC and has enjoyed years of performing and teaching in the US and abroad. Through experience of Artistic Direction of companies including Future Shock DC, Afta Shock DC, and Splittin’ Image, Doc was led to direct his own company, New Renaissance Arts.

The fusion of arts and science for the greater good is at the core of Doc’s life and he enjoys intertwining logic and creativity to operate in the space of healing. This began with using dance as supportive therapy for sexual assault victims and in 2020, Doc formed One More Plate, Inc., a non-profit focused on bridging the gap between food resources and our currently unsheltered neighbors. In 2021, Doc was signed as modeling, acting, and voice acting talent in addition to dance by Main Line Models and Talent, a new and exciting frontier. Doc was last seen as Rocky in the live shadow cast of the classic Rocky Horror Picture Show and as Slink on Netflix’s Dance Monsters.

Nyla Law is 8 years old and is making her second appearance with New Renaissance. She is a blossoming artist who loves graphic design, music, dance, reading and mathematics. Since her debut with New Renaissance in May of 2023, Nyla has performed in the Howard Country Drama Learning Center’s rendition of “High School Musical”. She currently attends Cradlerock Elementary School and was awarded the Young Authors Award for her short story “Queen of the Second Grade”. Nyla would like to thank her family, friends, and New Renaissance for giving her the opportunity to explore the arts and the DMV community.

From Upper Marlboro, MD, J. Eleven, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, occasional rapper and music producer. He began his music journey in 2018 with the release of his first single “Waiting to Exhale” and released his first album titled “Phases of Love” in February 2020. J. went on to release his second album in November of the same year titled “The Sequel” which served as a follow up to the first album. Outside of his musical efforts, J. Eleven has been seen in several prominent stage plays and film.

The HipHopMomma Princess Best aka “The HEALACIST” is an international spokesperson for women and girls wellness, mental health and personal development through the arts. Specializing in self-awareness, self-care, self-actualization and spiritual healing. As “The HEALACIST”, The HipHopMomma Princess Best SPEAKS to H.E.A.L. (heal/empower, amplify/activate/liberate) women and girls through the transformative power in lyrics. She is the author of the book “My BARZ Heal Scars”: The WombPrint To Healing The Girl Within.” Formerly the host of two podcasts, “Lessons of Lyrics” and “Motherhood by Design”, Princess currently serves as the Director of Arts Integration and Community Engagement for One Common Unity, working in numerous schools throughout the DCPS/DCPCS system and beyond. A transformational performing arts thought leader, dynamic public speaker and influential spiritual healer, Best is known for her impactful ability to facilitate healing in spaces and creating effective arts-centered approaches to education, parenting and individual female growth.

Judith Ngari is a contortionist based in New England who performs solo as Twisted Elegance. A DC native, she has honed her craft over the last 15+ years, performing with the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, the Boston Circus Guild, the New England Black Circus and more. A certified Advanced Flexibility Specialist, Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor, Judith has a passion for helping others unlock access to their mobility and work toward their flexibility goals. She coaches at Esh Circus Arts in Somerville, MA.
