CROCHET WITH THE KINGPIN

February 20, 6:30 PM

Get hooked! Dwayne Lawson-Brown aka The Crochet Kingpin will be leading a free crochet workshop in Woolly Mammoth’s lobby before the evening performance of THE WORLD TO COME. Whether you’re new to crocheting and looking to learn or would like to work on your current project in community, we want to see you there! Materials will be provided.

Dwayne Lawson-Brown is a multidisciplinary artist, commonly known for poetry and spoken word. Where words fail, craft can succeed; Dwayne may not always able to articulate the tenuous balance of being a Black, queer, parent living in Washington DC in a time of political disarray, but through choosing the right colors and working in the proper pattern, the work can illustrate the feeling of navigating a country in conflict.

Dwayne’s work has been featured during DC Emancipation Day and during ChocolateCon. Dwayne has also created works for Woolly Mammoth Theater and The Phillips Collection. Learn more: CrochetKingpin.com
