Located blocks from two metro stations, Come Down(town) and Danceis Art all Night‘s badass dance party! The parties kick off right as the 8pm performance of The Comeuppance concludes and feature special appearances by Miss Chief Rocka and Ambassadors of Joy, Black in Space. Guests of all ages are invited to this MAMMOTH event that includes a hoop dancing demonstration, food and drink, the dynamic sounds of DJ Diyanna Monet.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Black in Space 

Black in Space is a collective of creatives, curators, and storytellers committed to Black joy and liberation. Our work celebrates the artistry, diversity, and resilience of Black LGBTQ+ communities through media, storytelling, and technology. We launched in May 2020 with our inaugural journey Black in Space: A Virtual Black Pride Experience. The five-day virtual festival featured 33 unique experiences, including music, film, and art. Since lifting off, we have collaborated with local and national organizations to produce virtual and in-person events and a variety of digital content. Meet us on The Muvaship at blknspace.com! 

Diyanna Monet 

Always keeping New Jack Swing sounds in her vicinity, Diyanna Monet is a dynamic DJ and music aficionado hailing from Washington, DC. With several years of experience of igniting dance floors, she has proven to energize and captivate the attention of crowds ranging from private events to massive festivals. Her style of djing, incorporating a variety of sounds, has garnered her recognition from national and international audiences, landing dj sets in notable venues such as The Kennedy Center, Museum of Science, The Smithsonian Institution, and in places such as Europe and Asia. Leading with the inspiration of preserving Black culture and timeless music, Diyanna is sure to deliver energizing sets and memorable dance floor moments as a means to solidify herself as a champion of excellence, innovation, and unity through music. 

Miss Chief Rocka 

Angela Miracle Gladue aka Lunacee, is a nehiyaw (Cree)/Greek Interdisciplinary Artist from the Treaty 6 Territory of amiskwaciy-wâskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta) and is a proud member of Frog Lake First Nation. At age 6 she began cultural dancing through a Metis and Powwow dance program at her school and performed regularly throughout western Canada with the Red River Wheelers and her school’s powwow performance group. Her background in Hip-Hop dance began as a B-girl in 2003 through the influence, mentorship and collaboration of Native Hip-Hop performance group, The Red Power Squad. She became a member of the Fly Girlz Dance Crew in 2008 and went on to win Artists Emerge, The Canadian Hiphop Championships and became 3rd place Bronze Medalists at the World Hiphop Championships in Las Vegas.  Since 2016, Angela has toured as one of the lead dancers for The Halluci Nation (Formally known as A Tribe Called Red) and has also opened for major recording artists: TLC, Sean Paul, Lil’ Kim, Maestro, GrandMaster Flash, Busta Rhymes and the America’s Best Dance Crew tour to name a few.  

Dew The Artist 

Emmy-winning artist Doudgy Charmant, born in vibrant Haiti, paints with boundless creativity, infusing love and human essence into meticulous, ecstatic works. Starting his artistic journey at age four, Doudgy’s vivid celebration of life spans monumental city murals to intimate locales, earning recognition from diverse collectors like ESPN and the Pentagon. Described as “warm” and “hopeful,” Doudgy’s art emotionally resonates. Beyond the canvas, he dedicates time to nurturing underprivileged youth through his foundation, providing a vital outlet for expression in inner-city schools and group homes. Inspired by his father, the late Haitian artist Ralph Bricene Charles, Doudgy intertwines his artistic journey with family heritage. His work, spanning Washington, D.C., Bowie Town Center, and more, pays homage to his father’s legacy while creating a lasting artistic impression.
