From Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin:
A Town Hall Meeting on Black Bodies
and American Racism

Friday, August 23, 2013
7pm to 10pm
Woolly theatre
641 D Street NW
Washington, DC 20004

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

In this year, the fiftieth anniversary of the March on Washington, it is one of America’s sad truths that racism continues to be the daily reality for many of its citizens. The recent verdict in the Trayvon Martin case in Florida puts this truth into stark relief. We cannot be silent.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company invites you to lend your voice to this vital conversation. Our Town Hall Meeting aims to foster a dialogue with local activists, academics, artists, and policy makers, and to address potential next steps and an action plan here in our own community.

Our participating partners include Washington Peace Center, Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Rock the Vote, African Continuum Theatre Company, Life Pieces To MasterpiecesThe Black Benefactorsand the list is growing.

If you are part of a community organization and are interested in partnering with us, please email jocelyn@woollymammoth.net.
